Job Title: Marketing & Member Outreach Assistant
Reports to: Executive Director
Type: summer job / age 30 & under
Employer: National Farmers Union – Ontario (NFU-O)
Location: work from home, anywhere in Ontario
Positions: Two full time positions available, 35 hours/week, offered through the Canada Summer Jobs program (see eligibility criteria below)
Duration: 8 weeks starting June 6th
Compensation: $17/hour
Marketing/ Communications:
– Support NFU-O Locals to develop a list of farmers and farmers markets by region for the NFU-O website
– Create a bank of social media posts to engage with farmers, eaters, and food system stakeholders
– Organize & support “young farmer” Instagram story takeovers
– Organize & experiment with engaging members/followers on Instagram stories
– Source photos from farm members
– Support the creation of a communications strategy
– Write articles on key priority areas (farmland protection, land access, etc.)
– Support policy research and tracking
Member Outreach
– Assist in the identification of and outreach to new/potential members
– Assist in the development of strategies to grow and expand NFU-O farming membership
– Conduct phone surveys with current members
– Reach out to members to interview and write member profile stories
– Assist in the development of materials for Locals and members
Skills and Qualifications:
This is a Canada Summer Jobs position. Candidates must be:
– between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
– a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
– legally entitled to work according to the Ontario and Canadian legislation and regulations.
Experience
– Interest in community-building, environmental sustainability and/or food security
– Knowledge of Ontario agricultural community an asset
– A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
– Experience calling members and phone banking an asset
– Highly motivated and able to work independently and in a team
– Demonstrated problem-solving abilities
– Experience and knowledge of communications and/or marketing (preferred)
– Experience with Wordpress an asset
– Experience working with social media platforms & other social media analytics and scheduling tools
– Experience with graphic design is an asset (Photoshop, Canva, etc.).
– French language skills are an asset
– Excellent time management skills
– Ability to work from home
