Max Hansgen Acclaimed National Farmers Union – Ontario President / NFU Region 3 Coordinator for Second Term
Between the Lakes Purchase (Treaty 3); Treaty lands and territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit; Guelph, ON (April 8, 2024) – Max Hansgen was re-acclaimed as the National Farmers Union – Ontario President and NFU Region 3 Coordinator at the Annual General Meeting held March 19th & 20th. This will be Hansgen’s second term as NFU-O President, having been first elected in 2022, and his third term as a member of the Board, having previously served as Director-at-Large and the NFU-O Board Treasurer. Max and his wife Shelagh run a market garden called Earth’s Mirth just outside of Lanark Village in eastern Ontario.
Also acclaimed to the NFU-O Board and NFU Region 3 Council for a second term was Orlando Martín López Gómez (FoodShare, Toronto) as BIPOC Advisor.
Newly acclaimed to the Board in 2024 is Claire Perttula (Toronto) who will serve as a National Board Member, and Linda Laepple (Laepple Organics, Petersburg) as Women’s Advisor. This will be Claire’s first-ever term on the NFU-O Board, and will mark Linda’s return to the Board, following her tenure in 2012.
Roger Rivest (Nature Lane Farms, Staples), Rav Singh (Shade of Miti Farm, Mississauga), Ken Bassindale (Kenli Herefords & Apiary, Selkirk), and Brendan Grant (Sleepy G Farm, Pass Lake) will continue on the Board for the second year of their second terms.
