Local 320

Join us at the Grey Bruce Farmer’s Week!

Grey Bruce Farmers’ Week (GBFW) has been a main stay for the agricultural industry in Grey County since 1966, and this year Local 320 took part in their first-ever virtual tradeshow!

Representatives from the NFU-O and Local 320 will be “manning” the virtual booth from 9-11am Tuesday through Friday to answer questions and get folks excited about the work of the NFU-O.

UPDATE: The recorded content from GBFW is still available! For more information, and to buy tickets, please visit:  https://conferences.ctre.tv/grey/views/cart/

NEW! Well Water Improvement Program

New Water Well Improvement Program to Protect Groundwater Quality

SVCA Staff are pleased to announce that we have partnered with the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) to offer a Water Well Improvement Program that will financially support landowners in their efforts to protect groundwater. Managed and delivered by SVCA, the Water Well Improvement Program will provide cost share funding to properly decommission and upgrade water wells, which can be a direct conduit of contaminants to groundwater.

Properly decommissioning or upgrading such wells will reduce the risk of contamination to local aquifers and drinking water sources. Damaged or poorly maintained drinking water wells must be maintained to prevent groundwater contamination, as they also pose a threat to personal and public health.

Water Well Improvement Program guidelines, incentives and eligible costs are shown in detailed in the SVCA website at Stewardship (svca.on.ca)

Interested landowners should contact SVCA by email: stewardship@svca.on.ca or by calling Brittany Taylor, Water Resources Technician at 519-369-4475 and you can go to our website at Stewardship (svca.on.ca)

About Our Local

Our local chapter of the NFU is looking to grow our membership through community engagement. We have been contacting current members to find out what issues are of importance to them and their farms, and what kind of local events they would be interested in participating in. We’ve also been engaging food and farm enthusiasts with some of our events!

Why You Should Join Us

Local 320 is eager to get farmers together and hear about the issues that have the biggest impact on your farm. We’re stronger together and look forward to welcoming new farmer members as well as associate members to have a stronger voice in our community.

Not a Farmer?

Everybody eats! By supporting your local farmers you are helping shape the way your food gets to your table.
