We’re farmers first, and our policies reflect it. While our membership does have large farmers, small farmers, and everyone in between, most of us are small and medium sized producers. That means our policies and what we advocate for are developed to support sustainable-scale agriculture, and help family-sized farms thrive.

We work for our members. There are plenty of tough issues facing Ontario and Canadian agriculture and food production. We fight for the ones that our members prioritize through the democratic processes that govern our organization. Whether it’s climate change, soil health, or farm viability that’s on your mind, the NFU-O will put our weight behind you. We represent your interests, not the interests of any agri-business or government bodies.

We welcome everyone to the table, and since 1952 we’ve saved seats especially for women and youth in agriculture. Year after year, more women and young farmers find their place with us than with any other farm organization. More than just being at the table, women and young farmers are leading initiatives within our organization and bringing a diversity of perspectives that’s very much needed in the agriculture sector.

Our grassroots run deep. Our 22 locals across the province comprise the NFU-Ontario, and our goals and policies are based on your votes at Local, Regional, and National conventions. As a member, you’ll be regularly engaged through direct conversation at meetings, online surveys, social media, and at in-person farm shows and conferences. We’re where you are, and you can find us representing the interests of our members at the Ottawa Farm Show, The South-West Ag Conference, and the Guelph Organic Conference.
