NFU Youth

Welcome young farmers!  The NFU in Ontario is working hard to encourage and support the movement of young people into careers in agriculture.  Both youth from farm families and young people who have come to farming from urban backgrounds have found common ground in the NFU.  Join us and help create agricultural policy that works for you!

Who are the NFU youth?

  • Members of the NFU who are 14 to 29 years old
  • Together, we form a community of people who support, encourage and help one another.
  • We have our own structure within the Union that provides an environment to gain experience in a forum of our peers.
  • We are influential, recognized and respected in the NFU at large.

Why should I be involved?

  • Being a youth member of the NFU is an exciting opportunity for people who care about agricultural issues.
  • Many of us have made life long friends through the organization.
  • As youth, it is vital that we communicate our own way of thinking and understanding.
  • The NFU needs our energy, enthusiasm and good humour in order to stand for issues pertaining to farm families.

Who can be a Youth Member?

Any youth, including non-farm youth, 14 to 29 years of age can become a member. Any farm youth, ages 14 through 21, is automatically a member under her or his family's membership. Farm youth from ages 21 through 25 can buy a yearly youth membership for $40, while farm youth from 26 to 29 are required to buy a full membership. Non-farm youth can buy an associate membership for $50 and have all membership privileges except the right to vote or hold elected office.
