Who is an NFU member?

Who is a member?  Farmers just like you.
Any farmer or farm supporter in Canada can become a member of the NFU.  As a farmer in Ontario, you can join the NFU through the Farm Business Registration process which entitles you to the benefits of having an FBR # as well as the benefits of being an NFU member. 

Benefits & Services

As an NFU member in Ontario, you will receive the following benefits and services

  • a voice in shaping agricultural and social policy (Associate members can participate fully in all NFU activity except for serving as voting delegates and/or elected officials);
  • an NFU membership card;
  • invitations to NFU activities and meetings, including the annual National Convention and annual Ontario convention
  • a subscription to the Union Farmer monthly newsletter – an important source of infor-mation and analysis of food and farm issues;
  • a subscription to the Union Farmer Quarterly magazine – an indepth publication that examines timely food and agriculture topics
  • a subscription to "The Rural Voice"
  • a quarterly 'NFU in Ontario' Newsletter
  • access to a group insurance policy
  • periodic discount cards for select businesses
  • an effective, practical way of showing solidarity with farmers in Canada.

How to Join Us
The National Farmers Union is a certified general farm organization under the Ontario Farm Business Registration (FBR) program. If you choose to join the NFU through this program, you must complete the Ontario FBR application form available on the Agricorp website. Remember, the deadline for registering under the FBR program is March 1, 2009.

If you are a farm supporter and would like to join the NFU as an associate member, or if you are a farmer who does not wish to participate in the FBR process, there are four ways to join the NFU directly.

Fees

To become a member of the NFU, the fees are as follows

Farm Family- $150 (through the FBR process there is an additional $7.50 processing fee)

Associate Member- $50 minimum

Youth Member (21-25years)- $40 minimum
